Hyderabad: Contract teaching staff working in Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas (KGBVs) and Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) may get a 10-mark weightage in the upcoming teachers’ recruitment via the District Selection Committee (DSC).
The School Education department has recently proposed weightage for the teaching staff working in the KGBVs and SSA. The proposal follows a similar model previously introduced for recruitment of staff nurses, where service-based weightage of 30 percent was given to candidates who worked in government hospitals.
As per the proposal sent by the department to the State government, 10 marks have been proposed based on the length and locality of the service of eligible teachers. According to sources, 1.5 marks per year of service in rural, 1.3 marks per year of service in urban and 1 mark per year of service in the GHMC areas have been proposed.
Based on this proposal, a teacher who served for 6.5 years in rural areas will be eligible for full marks, while candidates from urban areas will have to put in eight years of service to obtain the full weightage. Similarly, in the GHMC region, 10 years of service is a need for 10 marks. “The proposed system is based on the HRA,” said a senior official.
If implemented, around 10,000 teaching staff working in KGBVs and the SSA scheme will be benefited. The weightage in the DSC recruitment has been a long-pending demand of the SSA employees, who earlier went on protest demanding regularisation of their services or merging them in the Education department.
