Hyderabad: Former Minister and senior BRS leader T Harish Rao came down heavily on the Congress government for turning a blind eye to the serious issues plaguing Gurukul schools, with students even taking out padayatras demanding basic facilities.
Referring to the recent padayatra by students of the Gurukul school at Alampur in Jogulamba Gadwal district, Harish Rao said it was shameful that children, who should be in classrooms, were protesting for food, water, and dignity. He criticised Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy for focusing on politics for electoral gain, while neglecting education sector crucial for future generations.
“Revanth Reddy, who lashes out at those who question him, must answer these children now. He must address thier grievances,” he asserted.
The BRS leader accused the Congress of showing its true colours by using police to forcibly move the protesting students instead of resolving their concerns. He said they were being herded into police vans for simply shouting slogan of “We want justice.”
Harish Rao demanded that the Chief Minister immediately visit Alampur, receive the memorandum directly from the students, and initiate corrective measures. He also questioned why there has been no response from the government even after the National Human Rights Commission sought a report on rising incidents of food poisoning, students deaths and other issues in government residential welfare schools.
