Sangareddy: Students of the Mandal Parishad Primary School in Mukthapur, Manoor mandal, staged a rasta roko on Thursday morning, demanding that the government revoke the transfer of their teacher, Ramesh.
Over the past few years, the quality of teaching at the school had led many parents to withdraw their children from private institutions and admit them in the government school. As a result, the student strength rose from 30 to 75.

When Ramesh received transfer orders on Wednesday, the move triggered strong emotional reactions from both students and parents. Parents said that some children even refused food on learning about the transfer.
On Thursday, students voluntarily came onto the road and blocked traffic, demanding cancellation of the transfer. Emotions ran high when Ramesh arrived and tried to pacify the children. Many parents broke down during the interaction.

Local police, along with parents, eventually persuaded the students to return to their classrooms.
