Hyderabad: A student died by suicide at a PG hostel in SR Nagar on Tuesday night.
S Amarjit (19), a native of Karnataka, was staying at a hostel in SR Nagar and pursuing chartered accountancy course. He shared his room with another student.
On Tuesday afternoon, Amarjit did not go to college citing health problems. In the night, when his roommate returned, he found the door of their room latched from inside. After Amarjit did not open the door despite several knocks on the door, the worried room mate alerted the hostel management who informed the police.
“On reaching, we found the door latched from inside. We broke the door and found Amarjit hanging to the ceiling fan using a towel. We suspect he committed suicide,” said an official of SR Nagar police station. The police registered a case.
In December, Amarjit had appeared for chartered accountancy exam and then went to his native place. He returned nearly a week ago to the city and was staying at the hostel. The reason that triggered him to end his life is yet to be ascertained.
