Hyderabad: St Andrews High School, Bowenpally (Suchitra), in collaboration with Spaceship9X, combined a celestial wonder like the ‘Planet Parade’ with the patriotic spirit of Republic Day, making the experience even more memorable for the students.

Having students witness a planetary alignment or sighting on this special occasion connected them to the vastness of the universe, showing them how, despite all the differences on Earth, we are all part of something much larger, a press release said.

The resource person gave an in-depth presentation for an understanding of what the students were going to watch before they went on to the sighting. A planet sighting was an exciting way to engage the students with astronomy. Seeing planets visible in the night sky sparked their curiosity and wonder.

Jupiter with its moons, Mars and Venus were viewed through a telescope. Jupiter, the largest planet in our solar system, was an incredible sight, while the “Red Planet”, Mars had a distinctive orange-red hue that was hard to miss.

Venus, the first to appear, brought joy and excitement because of its bright appearance.
