Sangareddy: Students and parents staged a massive protest at Ratnapuri Institute of Technology in Turkala Khanapur of Hathnoora mandal, demanding stern action against a faculty member, Shiva Reddy, who allegedly beat around 15 students for not doing the homework given by him.
The students, first-year Polytechnic (CSE) students of the college, staged the protest with the support of student organisations and demanded the immediate arrest of Shiva Reddy. They also demanded that the college management produce Shiva Reddy before them and seek an explanation from him. Student union leaders from ABVP, NSUI and CPI (M) participated in the protest.
A large police force arrived at the institute to control the agitating crowd after some protesters attempted to barge into the campus. Speaking on the occasion, student leaders criticised Shiva Reddy for allegedly punishing the students in an inhuman manner.
The students later submitted a complaint to the Hathnoora police seeking action against the faculty member.
