Hyderabad: Demanding enhancement of PhD seats in Telugu department, several students staged a protest at Kakatiya University, Warangal, on Thursday. According to protesters, the university announced admission to fill up two PhD seats in the Telugu department.
The interviews were conducted on September 25. However, they were cancelled after a gap of 45 days and rescheduled for Thursday, said Ravinder, one of the aspirants.
“Students want to know why the earlier interviews were cancelled. We objected to the interviews on Thursday as the same panel that conducted interviews on September 25 was present again. We also want the department to increase the seats by four or five,” he said.
Protesters said there was no response from the university administration despite reaching out to the dean, registrar and vice chancellor. Efforts to reach vice chancellor Prof. K Pratap Reddy for a comment proved futile.
