Siddipet: Students of the BC Residential College for Boys staged a protest on Thursday night over the poor quality of food being served at the hostel. The incident occurred at Husnabad, the constituency headquarters of BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar.
Alleging that substandard food had been served for several months, the students staged a sit-in holding their dinner plates to draw attention to their grievances. Leaders of various organisations visited the hostel and examined the food and curries served to the inmates. They expressed shock over the quality after inspecting the meals.
The students demanded that the government immediately change the staff and revise the menu. The inmates alleged that the management temporarily improved the menu for a few days whenever protests were staged, but soon reverted to the earlier practices.
