Subedar dies of cardiac arrest during 30-km run in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: An Indian Army officer died, allegedly due to a cardiac arrest, while participating in a 30-km run at Shamirpet on Thursday.
The incident occurred when the officer, Chattar Singh (43), a Naib Subedar, was participating in the run conducted by the 16th Jakli Regiment as part of an Endurance Competition around 6 pm.
According to the police, Chattar Singh, who was among 60 other Army personnel participants, had finished running 15 km of the 30-km distance. He is suspected to have suffered a cardiac arrest when he reached near the service road in Upparpally.
“While running, he suddenly collapsed on the road. Other Army personnel who noticed him immediately rushed to his rescue and tried shifting him to the Military Hospital, but he died on the way. He was declared dead at the hospital,” an official said.
Based on a complaint from Ghulam Rasool, Subedar 16th Jakli Regiment on Friday morning, the Shamirpet police booked a case and are investigating. His body was shifted to the Gandhi Hospital morgue for autopsy.
