Hyderabad: Union Coal Minister G Kishan Reddy alleged that successive governments refused to officially celebrate the occasion on September 17, due to appeasement and vote bank politics.

Addressing after hoisting the national flag on the occasion of ‘Hyderabad Liberation Day’ organised by the Centre on the anniversary of the merger of the erstwhile Hyderabad State with the Indian union on September 17, 1948, at Parade Ground on Tuesday, Kishan Reddy alleged that the previous rulers distorted history to suppress facts about the sacrifices of martyrs and the repression by Nizam and Razakars.
