Khammam: In a good samaritan act, the director of the Stambhadri Urban Development Authority (SUDA), Palla Kiran Kumar has come to the rescue of a poor man who lost livelihood due to closure of cinema theatres in Khammam.

An aged man called Narayana who used to work as labourer lost his eye sight some time back due to a sickness. Since he could not find work he along with his wife Nagamani started seeking alms from the public at cinema theatres and at the local railway station.

But he lost his source of income as the theatres were closed in the wake of Covid-19 pandemic and found it tough to get along. The plight of the elderly couple, who live in a shack near Nartaki theatre in Khammam, was reported in a local vernacular daily.

Kiran Kumar who came to know about the couple donated rice, cooking oil, dal and other essential commodities on Friday. The couple thanked the director for his kindheartedness.
