Hyderabad: Actor Sudheer Babu was first advised by his father to take care of their family business, but the actor had something else in mind, a strong desire for cinema that pushed him into acting.
“I never thought that I would have a certain period of acting career before taking a shot at films. Nor do I’ve a set plan. I’ve been following the trend, selecting scripts that impress audiences. I’ve seen victories as well as failures, but they never crippled me. Of course, failures taught the lessons how to go about. Gradually, I learnt how to choose the right scripts, I felt it’s not just a story, I’ve realised that aspects like technical team and budget should also be considered for the success of a film,” he adds.
Let down moment
Recalling a bitter incident during the initial phase of his acting career, the ‘Sammohanam’ actor says he was dejected and let down after he happened to hear a cameraman saying, “his is not a photogenic face, he can’t sustain for long in the industry”.
The incident never made Sudheer Babu sleep again as he strove hard. “It made me think about what I had to do. The opinion that this cameraman carried was what made me prove that I am an actor and my hard work paid off. I felt I should prove my talent first as an actor before making a mark as a protagonist. So I played as a brother to actor Samantha in the film ‘Ye Maaya Chesave’ and next I played an antagonist in Bollywood flick ‘Baghi’,” he says.
Never asked Mahesh Babu a favour
In his 10-year film career, Sudheer Babu says he had never approached Mahesh Babu for any favour. “During the release time of ‘Prema Katha Chitram’, Mahesh Babu had praised me to the moon. That gave me immense satisfaction. In my 10-year film journey, I never asked Mahesh any favour, that’s my principle.. I learnt so much as an actor from Superstar Krishna garu and Mahesh Babu. Telugu filmmakers have been constantly respecting my work and talent. That’s why I keep churning out movies one after another. I am so happy to have been enjoying this space currently,” he adds.
As a fan of martial artist-actor Jackie Chan, Sudheer loves watching action flicks on OTT. After the stupendous response and praise that he got from his action flick ‘V’, the actor is thirsty to sign a few action flicks soon. “My action films should set a benchmark In the coming days. I am on a film that is being directed by actor-writer Harshvardan. I’ve a film with ‘Loser 2’ director Abhilash Reddy. Another two projects are also in the pipeline. A big production house has agreed to bankroll the Pullela Gopichand biopic,” he signs off.
