Hyderabad: Super Plastronics Private Ltd (SPPL), an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) in the LED industry, is investing significantly to expand its manufacturing units as well as on R&D and innovation. The company is aiming to capture a major pie in India’s smart TV segment, besides clocking Rs 1,000-crore revenues in the next 2-3 years.
The company has so far launched Kodak TV, Thomson, White Westinghouse, and Blaupunkt TV. The company has also partnered with Google for Android TV. SPPL has manufacturing units in Noida, Una, and Jammu and over 28 company owned branch offices, 25 warehouses, and 550 service centres across India.
Avneet Singh Marwah, CEO, Super Plastronics, told Telangana Today, in an exclusive interview, “We have invested Rs 500 crore in a new TV line in UP that has one-million-unit capacity. This will open in the second quarter of the year. We are looking at a PLI scheme focused on semiconductor and display panels. We are the number two online brand in the country. By the second quarter, we will become the largest smart TV player.”
The company is going to close at Rs 600-700 crore this year and in the next two years, the company aims to cross Rs 1,000-crore mark. The company which is currently focusing on consumer durables will soon expand into the electronics segment. There are also opportunities in exports, distribution, and brand licences globally, Marwah informed.
There is a possibility to set up a new unit in the south after two years and Telangana is on our radar. Hyderabad, Warangal, and Karimnagar are some of the emerging markets for online sales.
The company has played a key role in Kodak’s foray into the consumer technology- television vertical in India, as an exclusive brand licensee. In July 2021, the company entered into a brand licensing agreement with Blaupunkt, German consumer electronics giant, as part of which Blaupunkt’s manufacturing, branding, designing, packaging, and retailing supply chain will be handled by SPPL. For Thomson, the company is currently making air coolers and washing machines and adding more appliances soon.
“We believe Blaupunkt will be able to create competition in the Android TV segment. We are focusing on sound models as sound quality is a big expectation in India. Hyderabad is the second largest market for the brand,” he informed.
