Jagtial: A surrendered Maoist, Pasula Vasantha, is facing financial difficulties as she has failed to receive the reward amount promised by the government at the time of her surrender.
On Monday, Vasantha submitted a representation to the Collector during Prajavani, the public grievances programme, requesting the district administration to take steps to release the reward amount.
A native of Korutla, Vasantha, along with her husband Pasula Ram Reddy, joined the People’s War Group 42 years ago. Though her husband died in 2000, she continued in the party without deviating from its ideology.
Following the government’s call, she surrendered before the Government of Chhattisgarh in January last year. At the time of surrender, both the Government of Telangana and Chhattisgarh governments had promised to give her a reward, but it has not materialised so far, she told reporters.
Earlier, she, along with Korutla Congress in-charge Narsinga Rao, submitted a representation to the Collector. However, there was no progress in the matter. Stating that her house had been completely demolished, she urged the government to release the reward amount.
