Surya Prakash Singh elected National Academy of Sciences Fellow

CSIR-IICT Senior Principal Scientist Dr Surya Prakash Singh has been elected a Fellow of the National Academy of Sciences, India, for his research contributions to Chemical Sciences, particularly advanced functional materials for chemical industry and energy applications

Hyderabad: Dr Surya Prakash Singh, Senior Principal Scientist at the Hyderabad-based Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (CSIR-IICT), has been elected a Fellow of the National Academy of Sciences, India (NASI), for his research contributions to the field of Chemical Sciences.

The recognition acknowledges Dr Singh’s contributions to the development of advanced functional materials for applications in the chemical industry and energy sectors. He will be inducted as a Fellow of NASI (FNASc) during the 96th Annual Session and Symposium, to be held at Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Varanasi, on December 3.


Dr Singh’s group works on the development of advanced functional materials for applications in the chemical industry and energy sectors.

Dr Singh has developed a wide variety of molecularly engineered photosensitisers, and his research is interdisciplinary, involving collaboration with organic chemists, materials scientists and device engineers.

He was honoured with the INSA Distinguished Fellow 2025, INSA Associate Fellow 2024, CRSI Bronze Medal 2024 and NASI-Young Scientist Platinum Jubilee Award by the National Academy of Sciences, India, among other honours.
