Hyderabad: The Telangana Solar Energy Association (T-SEA), in collaboration with the National Solar Energy Federation of India (NSEFI), launched the Surya Rath Yatra in the city on Tuesday.

Telangana Renewable Energy Development Corporation (TGREDCO) Vice Chairman & Managing Director Anila Vavilla flagged off the Yatra from Vishweshwara Bhavan, Khairatabad.

The event is part of a nationwide initiative under the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana to promote rooftop solar adoption.

Funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) via Sequa gGmbH under project KVP P933. This campaign aims to educate the public about the benefits of solar energy.

The Surya Rath Yatra was an innovative door-to-door outreach campaign, designed to engage communities and inform them about sustainable energy solutions that provide affordable and clean electricity, T-SEA president B Ashok Kumar Goud said, adding that the Yatra would cover various neighborhoods across Hyderabad over the next one week, delivering insights on solar energy adoption and the significant environmental and economic benefits it could bring to local households.

During the campaign the people would be educated about the benefits of rooftop solar adoption, Ashok Kumar said, adding that real-time demonstrations of solar technology and information on government schemes would be made and opportunities would be provided to interact with experts on solar installations and energy savings.
