Khammam: Police took the district BJP leaders into preventive custody here on Tuesday as they were going to join the party State president, Bandi Sanjay Kumar’s Rythu Bharosa Yatra in Suryapet district.
The party district president Galla Satyanarayana, general secretary Shyam Rathod, district vice president Manda Saraswati and minority wing leader Anwar Khan were among those who were taken into custody.
The leaders staged a protest resisting the police and the police had to take them into custody forcefully. Speaking to the media later, Satyanarayana complained that the government was acting undemocratically and arresting the opposition leaders who were fighting for farmers.
He demanded the government to immediately set up IKP centres to procure Vaanakalam paddy. Meanwhile, the BJP leaders here alleged that the police behaved in a bad manner and treated the district president like a criminal while taking him into custody.
