Suryapet: Sleuths of Central Crime Station (CCS) on Saturday arrested four persons at different places in Suryapet district and seized 160 quintals of adulterated fish feed from their possession. Along with the local police, CCS sleuths simultaneously conducted raids on godowns in the limits of Kodad, Suryapet, Chivvemla and Arvapally police stations and seized 160 quintals of adulterated fish feed. The police also took four persons, who were owners of the godowns, into custody.

The arrested in the raids identified as Tenukuri Shiva Kumar, who belongs to Arvepally mandal, Devarashetti Shanker and Gunda Venkanna, a natives of Suryapet, Challa Narsimha Rao, native of Kodad. Presenting the arrested persons at a media conference held in the district police Office, the Superintendent of Police Rajendra Prasad said that the arrested traders were mixing lemon stone powder with the fish feed to earn more money. The people, who would consume fishes grown with adulterated feed, would develop gastroenterology problems. It was found in the inquiry that the arrested persons brought lemon stone powder from Piduguralla in Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh state.

He said that cases were filed against the arrested persons at the police stations concerned under section 420, 273, 328 IPC and Section 11( C) of Prevention of Animal Cruelty Act. He warned that PD Act would be used against the persons, who would be found involved in marketing of adulterated and spurious food, which would have adverse impact on the health of the public.
