Suryapet: Suryapet Municipal Chairperson Perumalla Annapurna on Saturday warned that stringent action would be taken against those who would damage the saplings planted under Telangana Ku Haritha Haram (TKHH) in the town. She examined the damaged saplings, which were prepared for plantation drive in the fourth ward, by unidentified persons and enquired the officials about the incident.
Annapurna said that any damage done to the saplings would be taken seriously and efforts were going on to identify the miscreants who damaged the saplings. “We have taken the implementation of Telangana Ku Haritha Haram as a prestigious task to turn Suryapet as a green town,” she said.
She reminded that the State government has taken up Telangana Ku Haritha Haram to improve the forest coverage area in the State as well as to create a healthy atmosphere in towns and villages. The people should take part in the mission and make it a grand success. She informed that action would be taken against those persons who would indulge in such acts as damaging saplings, as per the law.
Municipal Commissioner P Ramujula Reddy and Councilor of fourth ward Laxmi Venkat Lal and others were also present.
