Wired reports that according to data submitted to the California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) by Apple, the company conducted more extensive testing of its autonomous car last year than ever before.
"The Apple Car project team has been dissolved for some time. The reorganisation within the next three to six months is necessary to achieve the goal," Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said in a tweet.
According to a report by TheElec, Apple has partnered with a South Korean outsourced semiconductor assembly and test (OSAT) company to develop its car's autopilot technology.
The document also shows various drawings of what appears to be a car's roof. Some of the diagrams indicate how the sunroof would move, reports GizmoChina.
Field joins Ford from Apple, where he served as VP, Special Projects. Before that, he was senior vice president, Engineering, at Tesla and he will report to Ford President and CEO Jim Farley.
Apple representatives were said to have met with South Korea's SK Group and LG Electronics last month to discuss Apple Car development, and now the iPhone maker is in talks with Toyota.
