A speeding car overturned on the Begumpet flyover in Hyderabad on Wednesday morning, disrupting traffic. Three passengers sustained injuries and were hospitalised. Police suspect rash driving and have launched an investigation into the incident.
Estimates indicate that Hyderabad has between 85 lakh to 90 lakh vehicles, with the numbers increasing daily. The surge has been so significant that vehicular density exceeded 10,000 vehicles per km last year, up from 6,500 vehicles per km five years ago.
According to the police, the driver of the car lost control over the vehicle and rammed into the divider on the flyover. He then hit a bus ahead of him before hitting the flyover wall.
