HYDRAA Commissioner AV Ranganath has asked BHEL not to obstruct the beautification of Rayasamudram Cheruvu, stating that lakes are public assets. He said development works would proceed without demolishing houses or inconveniencing the public.
"YTPS is another indelible signature of Chandrashekhar Rao on the history of Telangana. Chandrashekhar Rao's vision and efforts behind this power plant will be remembered for a long time by the people of Telangana," he said.
The Congress had also found fault with the location of the Yadadri plant, saying that it was far from coal mines which could lead to coal transport costs of over Rs.800 crore per annum, and went to the extent of terming the project unviable.
