A controversy has erupted in the Telangana Chief Electoral Officer's office over the appointment of a non-cadre officer as Additional Chief Electoral Officer. Allegations have been made that the prescribed procedure was not followed, with only one name reportedly sent to the Election Commission of India instead of the mandatory panel of three.
Nearly 29,000 Form-7 applications seeking deletion or objecting to proposed voter inclusion have been filed during Telangana’s SIR, Chief Electoral Officer C Sudharsan Reddy said. Hyderabad accounted for around 5,000 applications, while 4.43 lakh Form-6 applications were submitted for fresh enrolment.
Electors receiving notices under Telangana’s Special Intensive Revision will no longer have to attend in-person hearings, Chief Electoral Officer C Sudharsan Reddy said. BLOs will collect documents from electors and upload them online, while exceptional cases may be heard online.
