The new research, presented at this year's European Congress of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (ECCMID), appeared in the European Respiratory Journal.
According to the study published in the Journal Lancet Digital Health, these health checks include measurement of major risk factors, such as systolic blood pressure, cholesterol profile, blood glucose, and smoking status.
The study showed that both low and high blood pressure were associated with a greater risk of dementia in men, but for women, the risk of dementia increased as blood pressure went up.
