A BRS delegation met the National Commission examining Scheduled Caste status for Dalit Christians and sought an amendment to the 1950 Presidential Order. The party argued that religious conversion does not remove social discrimination and called for extending SC status to Dalit Christians.
A BRS delegation will meet the Justice K Balakrishnan Commission in New Delhi to advocate Scheduled Caste status for Dalit Christians. The party will submit a memorandum, seek changes to the Presidential Order of 1950 and present a Telangana Assembly resolution supporting the demand.
On Good Friday, Bishop Dr Sagili Prakash urged the Supreme Court to review its verdict denying SC reservation benefits to Dalit Christians, highlighting constitutional rights, historical discrimination, and the need to address continued social and economic marginalisation.
