BRS leader Dr RS Praveen Kumar accused Forest officials of trying to seize 50 acres of land cultivated by Dalit farmers in Dimda village, forcing them to sleep in their fields out of fear. He demanded government intervention and criticised the local MLA for inaction.
The village, situated between the two water bodies, was isolated after both were in spate. Residents, living in fear since the disconnection, urged officials to relocate them to safer areas and ensure basic safety measures are in place
Forest officials said that the NBWL suggests construction of the special bridges to reduce disturbance caused by movement of vehicles in the forests that are inhabited by wild animals, in particular tigers
Having a population of about 2,000, the village is often isolated by the backwaters of Pranahita river and a flooding stream whenever heavy rains occur.
Dimda and Shivapelli villages and Naikapuguda, a hamlet under Babasagar in Chintalamanepalli mandal, Thalayi, Thikkapalli and Bheemaram of Bejjur mandal were stranded in the backwaters of Pranahita river, which was in spate due to heavy rains.
