Kumram Bheem Asifabad: BRS leader Dr RS Praveen Kumar on Sunday said farmers from weaker sections were being forced to sleep in their farms, facing freezing cold, fearing their lands would be grabbed by Forest officials.

Extending solidarity to farmers at Dimda village in Chintalamanepalli mandal on Sunday, Praveen Kumar said Forest officials were trying to claim the land tilled by Dalit farmers. The officials, who agreed to allow the farmers to cultivate crops in 50 acres of the land, were now attempting to grab the land by digging trenches. The farmers were now left with no option but to sleep on the farms to protect their lands from being occupied by the Forest Department, he stated.

Asking who would be responsible if wild animals attacked the farmers, he alleged that Forest officials were harassing the farmers as they were not backed by anyone. He demanded Ministers to visit the farms to find the ordeal of the farmers and also requested members of the SC Commission to immediately intervene and help the farmers.

Praveen Kumar attributed the pitiable plight to negligence of local MLA Dr P Harish Babu. He recalled that Harish raised the issue in the Legislative Assembly, but was now ignoring the farmers. He faulted the MLA for not showing interest in speaking with the Forest officials. He assured to fight for the farmers on behalf of the BRS till their demands were met.

Earlier, he urged electors to cast their votes in favor of candidates supported by BRS in Koyapalli and Gudem villages.
