Civil society organisations, NGOs, and academicians in Telangana have urged the Congress leadership to intervene in the ongoing fee reimbursement crisis. The State government’s GO Ms 7, which mandates direct transfer of funds to students instead of colleges, has been stayed by the High Court.
The Telangana High Court suspended a clause in a government order introducing a DBT mechanism for fee reimbursement, ruling it inconsistent with its earlier directions. The Court warned that issuing such orders against interim rulings could amount to contempt and gave the State until May 4 to respond.
UIDAI has waived charges for Mandatory Biometric Updates (MBU-1) for children aged 5–17, effective from October 1 for one year. This move benefits around six crore children and enhances access to services like school admissions and scholarships.
As for the mode of payment, the State government will transfer the required subsidy amount in advance to the oil marketing companies (OMC) on monthly basis.
