The judgment was pronounced by a five-judge bench headed by Chief Justice U.U. Lalit and also comprising Justices Dinesh Maheshwari, S. Ravindra Bhat, Bela M. Trivedi and J.B. Pardiwala.
People who are not covered under SC, ST and BC reservations and whose family's gross annual income is below Rs 8 lakh will be eligible for the EWS reservation.
The orders were issued in accordance with Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao's announcement to implement the EWS reservations, as per the 103rd amendment to the Indian Constitution in 2019 by the Centre.
