A man bid Rs 1.17 crore for a fancy registration number - HR 88 B 8888, but failed to pay the money by the deadline. He stands to lose his security deposit of Rs 10,000 in Haryana.
The Telangana Regional Transport Authority (RTA) collected Rs. 63.7 lakh through its latest fancy number plate auction held at the Khairatabad regional office. The highest bid was for “TG 09 G 9999,” purchased by Hetero Drugs Limited for Rs. 25.5 lakh.

An out-of-series VIP number will cost up to Rs 18 lakh in major cities including Mumbai and Pune, which incidentally is the cost of new cars in the mid-segment. Many fancy the covered '0001' for their vehicles. Now Maharashtra governemnt will collect Rs 5 lakh for four-wheelers, up from the current Rs 3 lakh. For two and three-wheelers, the fee will increase to Rs 1 lakh, doubling from the existing Rs 50,000.
