A total of 111 villages in four districts have been affected by the floods, caused by heavy rains and water released by the dams in neighbouring Maharashtra.

Sources said that the farmers were stuck on the island following the rise in the flow of waters in the river at around 12 am.

The Chief Minister has asked all officials concerned to come prepared for the meeting since the State government has to submit a report to the Centre on the losses caused by the heavy rains and flash floods in the State.

More than a hundred thousand homes have been submerged in the floods and nearly 46,000 people evacuated, Vietnam's disaster management authority said.
