Tension flared at the Grama Sabha in Hakimpet, Vikarabad, on Saturday as farmers accused police of harassment and raised grievances over unpaid compensation for acquired land. The meeting, held in Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s Kodangal constituency, saw commotion after farmers and contractors alleged irregularities.
While the meeting was being conducted, Nagaraju made suicide bid by dousing himself with petrol. Officials prevented him and alerted the police, who rushed to the spot and shifted Nagaraju to the police station
While Uttam Kumar Reddy was addressing the gathering, a few women raised their voice and questioned the Minister over the delay in completion of the Narayanpur reservoir works
The factions within the Congress are knocking at MPDO office doors demanding changes in the committee members. Meanwhile, the BRS, BJP and Left parties are demanding the officials to conduct a grama sabha to constitute the committee transparently.
