As heavy floods to the Jurala project in Jogulamba Gadwal district continued for the third day, project authorities on Sunday lifted 17 of its 62 flood gates letting off over one lakh cusecs.

Many questioned the priorities of the traffic police during such challenging times.

The disaster struck in the early hours of Thursday when a nearby tank at Burugupet village, Venakatapur Mandal, breached due to the heavy floods.
