In a commendable move towards inclusive electoral participation, 97 out of 103 eligible voters, comprising senior citizens and persons with disabilities, exercised their franchise from home in the Jubilee Hills Assembly by-election. The Election Commission of India facilitated this initiative for voters aged above 85 and those with over 40 percent disability.
Aimed at empowering elderly voters aged 85 and above, as well as individuals with a minimum 40 per cent benchmark disability, this facility to continue until September 26, 2024.
The CEO reviewed the status of Home Voting, which is being provided for the first time in Telangana and facilitates voting at home itself, by senior citizens, PwD voters, who opted for it in place of casting their votes at the polling stations, it said.
