Suryapet police cracked a major jewellery heist at Sai Santoshi Jewellery, arresting three suspects, including a woman from Khammam and two gang members from West Bengal and Nepal. A significant portion of the stolen valuables was recovered from the accused.
The 22-year-old woman, a resident of Karawal Nagar, and her accomplices - Keshav Prasad, 28, and Vivek Singh, 20, - targeted her distant relative Israt Jameel's house on July 10 and "searched" the premises by posing as "CBI officials from Okhla Branch", the police said.
The thefts were reported at jewellery stores near Alipurdaur Railway Station and Birpara in 2009. Pramanik, a resident of Dinhata town near Bangladesh border in West Bengal, is accused of vandalizing and looting the jewellery stores.
