Bund of 50-year-old project breached for third time on Wednesday as Kakatiya canal water was released into the water body by lifting gates near Keshavapatnam

A portion of bund of the Kalvala project breached as the water body was getting huge inflows following the incessant rainfall during the last few days.

TS Planning Board vice-chairman B Vinod Kumar had visited the project and promised to take steps to protect standing crops by taking up temporary repair works

Though the crop is presently in good condition, they are worried about the supply of water in the coming days since the bund of the Kalvala Project

Anticipating the threat, villagers and local public representatives had on Thursday placed sand bags at the bund to avert the damage.
