Friday prayers at Hyderabad’s historic Mecca Masjid concluded peacefully amid tight police security as Ganesh idol immersion processions continued in the city. A procession carrying large idols passed the mosque quietly, while worshippers dispersed gradually after the prayers.
Police made elaborate security arrangements at Charminar on Friday amid Friday prayers and a large gathering at Mecca Masjid. Senior officers monitored the situation, while RAF and Task Force personnel were deployed. Small Ganesh idols continued passing through the area during prayers.
Three residents, including two women, were taken into custody after a packet allegedly containing bones and non-vegetarian food waste was thrown from a police housing society building in Madannapet during a Ganesh immersion programme, triggering protests at Chanchalguda.
