Listeria is a resilient bacterium that can survive on surfaces, such as meat slicers, and in foods, even at refrigerated temperatures, Xinhua news agency reported on Wednesday. According to the CDC, it can take up to 10 weeks for some people to develop symptoms of listeriosis.
