The Forest Department has strongly contested the findings of a report by the State Dam Safety Organisation (SDSO) that flagged crocodiles as a risk to Manjeera dam operations.
The experts from six South Indian states, and the Ministry of Forests, Environment and Climate Change (MoEF), who arrived at Hyderabad to participate in a two-day workshop, visited the wildlife sanctuary.
Though there were 80 Ramsar wetland sites in India, none of them were from Telangana. Manjeera would be the first Ramsar site in the State if it got the recognition this year.
