"Even while the agitation to save Vizag steel plant is intensified, the minister's remarks tend to provoke Telugu people," CPM Visakhapatnam district secretary K Lokanadham said
General secretary of the Forum A. Aja Sarma noted that the steel plant was a jewel in the crown of Telugu states and condemned the decision of the Centre which proposed a strategic sale of the plant.
In a tweet after the Budget, he said, "Forget putting cash in the hands of people, Modi Govt plans to handover India's assets to his crony capitalist friends."
The former Congress chief's attack came a day after petrol and diesel prices in the country touched new all-time highs after rates were increased for the fourth time in the week.
The project envisages a new triangular Parliament building, with a seating capacity of up to 1,200 MPs. The project is estimated to be constructed by August 2022, when the country will celebrate its 75th Independence Day.
