Electricity demand in Telangana is rising rapidly as temperatures increase. The State recorded a demand of 18,139 MW on March 3, while TGSPDCL logged 11,129 MW. Officials attribute the surge to rabi crop consumption and higher household and industrial usage

The power consumption trends prevailing in the Telangana have already put the authorities on high alert as the demand is fast going up

Energy Minister G Jagadish Reddy said the per capita power consumption in the State was 2,166 units against national average of 1,255 units.

The highest peak power demand earlier was in February 2020 when it touched 13,168 MW, TS Transco and TS Genco Chairman and Managing Director D Prabhakar Rao said.
