The Union Minister questioned why Deshmukh did not resign before and did so only after Mumbai High Court ordered a CBI inquiry.

There should be a probe against Anil Deshmukh as he is under suspicion at this moment, Athawale said.

Speaking to the media in Lucknow Athawale said, "People of any community who live below the poverty line should be given reservation."

Due to pandemic-triggered restrictions and social distancing norms, the usually jubilant celebrations were visibly low-key this year, but some cultural programmes were held to mark the day.
