A community dog allegedly died after being beaten by five men in Nellore. Following a complaint by a local resident, police registered an FIR with assistance from PETA India and SAFI under the BNS and Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act.
PETA India and SAFI have facilitated the registration of an FIR against the chairman of Metpally Municipality over the alleged illegal relocation of more than 100 community dogs. Police have launched an investigation to trace the animals and determine their whereabouts.
