The upcoming edition will be the first men's T20 World Cup played since 2016, when West Indies beat England in the final in India.

"We have officially intimated the ICC that the T20 World Cup can be shifted to the United Arab Emirates." BCCI President Sourav Ganguly said.

The BCCI sought a month's time and the ICC board unanimously agreed to give that for a detailed assessment of the health situation in the country.

The ICC is likely to make a formal announcement of its final decision during its annual conference that starts on July 18.
