APEDA facilitated the first-ever export of GI-tagged Tandur red gram from Telangana to Australia, marking a milestone for the State's agricultural exports. The 2.5-metric-tonne consignment was shipped from Hyderabad, opening new international market opportunities for farmers and producers of the GI-certified pulse from Vikarabad district.
TrayamBhu Tech Solutions has received a Notification of Award to implement traceability for GI-tagged Tandur Red Gram in Telangana. The project will cover 65,000 farmers, verify produce origins, curb fake claims and strengthen farmers’ market bargaining power and women’s inclusion.
While the entire State accounted for production of over 3 lakh tonnes of this variety, Tandur alone accounted for half the output. Over 60,000 growers were raising the red gram crop in the areas.
