The Telangana State Legislature’s budget session begins Monday, with Congress and BRS poised for sharp confrontations over welfare guarantees, irrigation projects, and the Musi riverfront development. Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla will address the joint sitting, while the State budget of Rs 3.2 lakh crore is scheduled for March 20.
In his speech, the Governor praised the Congress for implementing crop loan waivers and Rythu Bharosa, which drew strong objections from the Opposition benches. They argued that the government had failed to execute these schemes fully and transparently.
The protesters were taken into custody and removed from the Assembly premises. Their main demand was the immediate appointment of a Minister for the Education Department. Additionally, they urged an increase in budget allocations for the education sector, highlighting its crucial role in shaping students' futures.
This would be the first time that he attends the Assembly session as the Leader of Opposition, since demitting the office of the Chief Minister following the electoral setback in December last year.
