Rebellion within both Congress and BJP has surfaced in the run-up to municipal elections in Karimnagar district, with several leaders refusing to withdraw nominations after being denied party tickets. Congress leader Mondi Srilatha Chandrashekhar and BJP veteran Bethi Mahender Reddy are contesting independently.
Though Minister Ponnam Prabhakar is representing the constituency, the party aspirant may not get support from all pockets of the segment since the cadre are reportedly unhappy with the selection of the candidate.
Informing that the party leadership unanimously participated in Rajender Rao’s nomination filing, he said the party would make an official announcement within two days.
Surprisingly Transport and BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar participated in the nomination filing programme giving rise to speculations that the ticket has been allocated to Rajender Rao.
