The IMD has issued a weather alert forecasting heavy rainfall in western Tamil Nadu, particularly Coimbatore and the Nilgiris, over the next two days. Residents in landslide-prone and low-lying areas are advised to exercise caution due to thunderstorm risks

As a safety measure, the special commissioner advised farmers, farm labourers, shepherds and others not to stay in open places or under the trees.
