From 16th September, the Committee will begin examining the nominations of natural, cultural and mixed sites to the UNESCO World Heritage List, starting with the nominations that could not be examined last year.
Former IAS officer BV Papa Rao and former professor M Panduranga Rao recalled that it was a decade-long journey, which commenced in 2009 when they formed the KHT intending to get international recognition for Kakatiya Heritage
It was inscribed on the World Heritage List in 2004 and on the List of World Heritage in Danger in 2012 following concerns about the "proposed development of Liverpool Waters", said UNESCO.
This is embodied in an international treaty called the Convention concerning the Protection of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage, adopted by UNESCO in 1972.
