Students of Government Polytechnic, Patancheru, protested against GO Ms No. 97, opposing the proposed integration of government polytechnics with Young India Skills University. They demanded protection of the existing academic system, SBTET framework and educational and career opportunities for diploma students.
Polytechnic students from across Telangana staged a protest at Hyderabad’s Dharna Chowk, demanding withdrawal of GO MS 97 and continuation under the SBTET and Education Department. Students opposed the proposed YISU framework, citing concerns over career prospects, governance and lack of clarity.
BRS MLC Dasoju Sravan Kumar has demanded that Young India Skills University (YISU) disclose Board approvals and due diligence reports for the proposed takeover of State polytechnics under G.O. Ms. No. 97. In a letter to chairman Anand Mahindra, he questioned the rationale of transferring an ecosystem serving over one lakh students to YISU, which currently operates from a transit campus with about 1,000 students.
The Telangana Polytechnic JAC has temporarily suspended its protests against the merger of polytechnic colleges with Young India Skill University after the government formed a high-level committee. However, it warned of intensifying protests if GO No. 97 is not scrapped.
Young India Skills University (YISU), Telangana, has launched B.Tech in Applied Life Sciences and B.Sc in Cardiovascular Sciences. The programmes offer hands-on training with partner companies and hospitals. YISU also unveiled its Digital Learning Universe for enhanced learning experiences.
